Most people have heard of electro plating (whereby a thin coating of a given metal is applied to the surface of another metal part), but not so many have heard of electro polishing. In essence electro polishing is the opposite process to electro plating in that rather than depositing a metal onto another part it actually removes a very thin layer of metal and streamlines the surface of the part, leaving a highly polished, almost mirror finish, unachievable through standard hand polishing techniques.

This technique is mainly used for the medical industry because of its high quality polishing capabilities, but is also invaluable in applications requiring precise deburring, size control and micro-finish improvement.
